Either 'mode 1' or 'mode 2' will display on the LCD at power up. There 
is no other action to take other than [ASSIGN] and [POWER] 
simultaneously. 

There had been another user some months ago with the same problem 
description. We never pinned it down as to what was happening with his 
AN1x. Try again and pay attention to the LCD - if still nothing 
than...?!?
