Timothy's advice is well stated and correct. I use a K2000VP rack- I found that I used it so much that I bought a second one last year (instead of buying a K2500r). I use them mainly for synth sounds (using VAST) but sometimes I play a few samples on them (sample transfer via SCSI is a breeze). Programming is fairly logical- they have a Nice LCD display that shows plenty of info. I have to add one gripe - The effects in the K2000 are really crummy sounding (I think they were based on an old Digitech engine). The K2000VP is a good deal for under $1000. Todd S. The usual gripes are: > low note polyphony (24 on the K2000, 48 on the K2500), lame factory presets, > lame ROM samples, and a geekish user interface. VAST makes up for the ROM > set--if you know what you're doing you can get what you need out of it.
