I just spoke with Yamaha and they will NOT send you a free upgrade for the OS if you purchased the unit used. I spoke with a manager to let them know that others reported that they had received the update on used units per the e-mails in this group (unless I misunderstood what I had read). They stated that it was policy that they will not send the update on used gear even though they had done so in the past. When I mentioned that I could have lied and stated that I bought it from a music retailer, he agreed that I could have lied and got the part. I mentioned that I would be updating the 450 users on this Yahoo group and he stated that was fine. If I wanted to let everyone know, that was fine with him. Just wanted you to know if you buy it used and tell them the truth (which is always the best policy in my mind) it will cost you $35 for the upgrade. Seems for $35 they could have kept a happy customer, but they choose to live by policy. Just my first experience with Yamaha. Much different then my experience with Korg or Alesis. Alesis sent the e-prom at NO charge even as a used unit. When there is a bug, even Microsoft provides free upgrades. Robert
