Cross modulation (or a.k.a. X-modulation or a.k.a. Ring modulation) is also on the AN1x. Cross modulation takes two signals and outputs the sum and difference of the two in freuencies, this is what i think it does at least... Frequency modulation modulates the frequency ... but don't ask me how it modulates it, i only know how it looks on a grapic. i can guess though... maybe it modulates the frequency by multiplying it with another frequency, and the higher the other frequency is the higher it is being modulated.
