Looks like a bad contact .... or less likely a worn out pot.
Try to clean it (inside) with an electric contact cleaner, turn it up 
and down when you spray the cleaner inside, wipe out the excess liquid 
and check if your troubles are over . If not, you have to change the pot 
for a new one....(same ohmic value - same shaft type) or at least the 
solder joints on each of the 3 lugs of the existing pot.
With a good soldering iron with a fine tip, not an ice axe, please, and 
electronic grade solder!
