Greetings:

Just for kicks, make sure your power adapter A) is the correct one, B) 
it didn't die on you,
C) the cord, jack, etc, are good.

This does happen all of the time and it could just be coincidence here.  
Generally, even
after a bad update, it is not totally dead as you say.

This was an issue with a perfectly good AN1x a while ago.  That went 
around in circles
in the group until I just said, "Sounds Like a bad Power Adapter" -- It 
was.  All is well.

Give it a look. Maybe replace or try a substitute anyway -- 12V DC 
Center Positive.
