You're ∗waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay∗ overthinking this.
As with any similar project, take the screws out one by one. You'll notice there are three different types - make sure you put the right type in the right place. Make notes, if you think you'll forget.
You say you've modified other kit before, so I'm guessing I don't need to tell you to put the synth face-down on something soft and make sure you don't squash the joystick.
Again, since you've worked on other kit, you will probably already know to expect a couple of wires running from the battery compartment to the PCB. They're a bit delicate, as you'd expect, so lift the bottom off carefully. I ∗think∗ there's a plug you can undo to let you lift it away completely, I can't remember.

If you're going to muck about with the insides of electronic equipment, there are certain simple common engineering techniques that you ought to know before you even start.
If you need to be told which way to turn a screw to loosen it (yes, I have a trainee a bit like that at work) then you're not ready to solder stuff in equipment yet.

I was being perfectly serious. This isn't rocket science (nowhere near enough nasty chemicals) or even car cylinder head replacement (where you ∗do∗ need to be really careful about the order you remove and refit the head bolts).

You shouldn't need your hand held through this. It's not difficult. Stop looking for complication where there is none.
