Right. I wish I could make total sense of what you wrote, but your
basic point seems to be that there is a 3v lithium in all Poly 800s,
and that it can't power the entire board by itself, correct? If this
is what you're trying to say, then I know that. My point is that it
seems to be a matter of debate whether the Poly 800 has a memory
battery or not. I've been reading up on the issue for the past few
days now here and from all over the internet. The most sane
statements I've seen is that the Poly 800 mk1 went through several
revisions and at some point a memory battery was added into the
production units. The PC board has always had a space for it, but
not all Poly 800s had the battery installed.
Still, there seems to be folks who are adamant that the Poly 800 mk1
didn't have a memory battery, while other folks say all Poly 800s
did. Neither is clearly true, which is neither here or there to my
point, which is that the matter is exacerbated by the Poly 800 manual
with regards to what pages 5 and 40 say.

does NOT have to supply the ENTIRE machine, as the Larger Batts
DO .....( 'C' or'D' type...can't remember which...the large
compartment that hold 6 or more -cells ) , then it can be expected to
last much longer...5 years is typical......If wired differently, The
whole Korgs drain would wipe it out in less than one hour ! (
ridiculous, since you cannot extract 5 volts the entire machine needs
from 3 v) ...Refer Drawing......
