I use MP3 all the time with no problems.The signal is such low bandwidth to start with, it doesn’t lose anythingin compression. All it has to do is differentiate between a zero and a one onthe carrier.

I don't think you can use MP3 for this type of digital data. MP3 wasinvented for digital audio, and use compression on the base of somepsychoacoustic science. 

 

It's loss compression, probably it will somehow damage digital data.
