The mod to remove C87, 88 and D15, 23results in the memory being powered only by the CR2032, even when the synth ispowered on, which can reduce the CR2032 battery life. It also reduces C-celllife (if you use them) by leaving a drain through R1 and D1. By removing R1, D1and soldering the wires over there and leaving the other components in place,the memory is powered by the internal 5V supply when the synth is turned on andby the lithium cell when it is turned off.

Is this one of the original Mk1 with nosolder pads where the battery would eventually go, or the in-between one withsolder pads but no battery?

In any case, it doesn’t seem likeeither mod should have any affect on the audio output.

Just checked it on headphones actually. I will listenthrough an amplifier and see if it's the same.
