As a matter of fact, I already did that years ago. Bill's mails are the
only ones I get as HTML and he did send two or three inbetween as plain
text, so I think the configuration error is at his end (he seems to send in
HTML _only_ most of the time).

Reminds me I have an unfinished writeup on Walsh synthesis lying around.

Walsh synthesis is a control problem, just like additive synthesis in
general. You can stick a bunch of XOR on a divider and get some more waves
out of it no problem, but then you need to control their amplitudes somehow
and that is where things get complicated.
