BTW, you really only need two wires. I just used a third because I already had the 3-wire jumper cable laying around. You can find two-wire jumpers here that will probably work better:

Since all you need to do is ensure that /CE is high and there is power
to the chip, it should be easy enough to bodge in the required diode,
resistor and battery to any model.
