Dave,
To be honest, I got a little disappointed with the glitchy portamento,
but your accolades along with everyone else have really boosted my
spirits again. The portamento works well enough as it is to be good
enough for the grungy square wavish type sounds because the odd
harmonics tend to mask the glitchiness. It's only when you filter low
that it gets a little annoying and overly noticaable.
I'm no professional video creator, editor, producer and my youtube
videos prove that point. However, I am definitely going to do a few
more within a week or two. At the time that I did the first dual LFO
video I didn't even have a way to save the extended parameters. So it
was very difficult to showcase a series of new patches. But now that
the extended parameters are able to copied from one patch to another
with the "write" key, all I need to do is sit down and do maybe 8 or
more distinct patches and I'll be able to put together a really nice
demo. Did I mention that my keyboard skills suck?
The Moog Slayer mod as it currently exists will continue to work
perfectly well with my kit. My kit goes nowhere near any of the analog
mods at all. The big future upgrade, which I have partially prepared
for with the initial upgrade kit, will include a couple of digital
potentiometers that will allow us to control the Moog Slayer mod from
software. That will allows us to plug the EG's and MG's directly into
the Moog Slayer pots (which will be repatched into the digital
potentiometers). Then, for all of you brutes who drilled holes in your
keyboard, we will just patch those potentiometers into a analog to
digital converter (or two) and assign them to controllers. The end
result will be that you end up with the moog slayer mod being fully
integrated into patches and controls as well as being able to use the
knobs to control the Moog Slayer mod or any other controller you feel
like twiddling with.
I really think that given about another 12 months of software
development, the Poly 800 and EX 800 with the Hawkins and Moog Slayer
modification will be considered a top rate synthesizer that far
exceeds the competitors of its time and will perhaps challenge some of
the existing instruments too.
This is fun!
Mike.

getting your kit.

the abilities of the new LFO's in a more radical, extreme way (i.e.,
applying saw/squere to the DCOs, S/H if you managed to crack it,
etc.). The videos at you tube leave us hungry for more by the time :)
A clearer demonstration of the improved Poly-800's capabilities may
probably appeal to a wider audience of potential wanna-be-upgraders to
MK III.

Pity...Now, if we could show the world the combined powers of both
inventions from you guys, surely the Poly-800 fanbase would grow.
Maybe you could find some already modded Poly-800 to do the trick?
