First, I suggest purchasing the upgradedmotor controller. Mine already came with it, but from everything I have read itseems that this is the Achilles heel of the machine.

Also, I purchased new tapes from MellotronArchives for my M400. They sound GREAT!!!  I got the Flutes, 3 Violins, Brasssounds… I also have another tape set with the 3 Violins, Choir, andCello. They all sound great…

Subject: [Mellotronists] Hi guys!

I´ve recently acquired amellotron after lusting after it for many
years!

It has the infamous CMC10 motor and the original tape frame with flute,
strings and brass on it.

After running for about 15 minutes, the pitch becomes pretty stable.

What do you think I should do in the first place; get a new SMS type
motor, or buying a new tape set? I want to get the famous choir sound
and the 3 violins (the octave string section I have sounds quite awful
when playing chords!) and I can´t decide wheter cello or clarinet.

And where you think I should order the tape set, Streetly or Mellotron
Archives? I heard that the tapes from MA sound rather "digital", and
might not work on my old M400.

Besides, here in Argentina I don´t know of anyone who can service my
machine... :-(
