You're right, the strings in Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark's "Dead
Girls" sound too crispy, bright and extruded to be Mellotron. Chalk it
up to my crappy ears & the fact I haven't heard the tune since the
days when Uranus and harass were pronounced correctly.

I like spelling out Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark instead of OMD.
I used to feel the same way about ELO, but still do about PFM. And
SFF...I still am working on those three guys.

And whoever got the Pindertron...do something with those knobs. In the
meantime, swap 'em with the old man's Grundig until you find an
∗official∗ set. Sounds like you got a good deal for a stable ("this is
NOT an EMI machine!") unit. I am certain you're plan is to join
Mellotronists, but you're having too much fun right now.
