Big ticket items on Ebayare a gamble. Yes, the seller’s feedback is a good indication… Alsoa guarantee against a DOA product is always good.
I paid $2000 for my Tronfrom a private seller in Texas (whom I did not know). I had the shipping company give the checkto the seller when they came to pick up the tron. Icould not be there because I was out of the country. I was very luckythen…
I would never buy a B3 or other highpriced item without personally going there to pick it up.

In my limited experience, it seems to be just a matter ofusing a little sense. I've made about fifty eBay purchases, amounts up toaround $500 at the most, and every one was smooth and the items were asdescribed. The actual written feedback gives a pretty good insight intoanyone who has a lot of transactions behind them. In Mellotron-land withprices well over $500, I'd be more nervous, that's getting into a range whereit's tempting for some folks to overlook basic ethics.

PS:I've also had a fair number of instruments come to me for repair from ownerswho thought they had got a bargain - but didn't. But to be fair some sellersare genuine.
