Greetings, Guys & Gals...
If memory serves... When the Strawbs tour Europe, Dave Cousins uses
the "Bursting At The Seams" line-up... which features Blue Weaver
on 'Tron and Keys (YES he DOES use 'Tron live!!!), Hudson & Ford on
drums & bass, and of course, Dave Lambert... sometimes Tony Hooper
shows too! As for John Hawken... and his use of 'Tron live... I don't
think he does... something about the keyboard action comes to mind...
he loves the sounds though... No matter which line-up the Strawbs are
using... the show will be great... BTW... does anyone else have the
Strawbs DVD of their show in Tokyo in '75??? Great DVD... but the
tron is almost mixed out of the sound on "New World"... pity...
And now for something completely different... while going through my
album collection, I came across a Mellotron overture I'd forgotten
about. The song is called "Earth Shanty"... performed by the
Groundhogs (probably one of the few times a 'Tron was used by a Blues
group!), off of their "Hogwash" album... Tony McPhee starts the tune
out with a combination of M400'Tron and ARP 2600... I believe
the 'Tron was set on violins and cellos, and the ARP was creating
either a wind or a wave patch. Trust me folks when I say that this
overture ranks with "Watcher" for sheer power... and the rest of the
song isn't bad either!!! Check it out... you won't be disappointed!!!
... That's it, folks... over and out...
