I just got out my recorder and compared it to some
photos of instruments on the web and it looks like
what i have here is actually a tenor. It doesn't have
the bocal that I see on the bass instruments. I have
played this instrument along with Stairway and I can
manage the low notes, but not the higher ones....I
have always just assumed that it's my naive technique,
but maybe it's as you say Rick, wrong instrument.

I'll try to find that interview....I THINK it was in
Keyboard, but it's been many years since I have seen
it. Maybe on the web somewhere.

The upshot of the interview for me was that it
introduced me to the recorder solo records that
Richard Harvey has recorded over the years. I saw him
with Gryphon on the Yes Relayer tour and, while he was
mostly playing keyboards, his recorder solo had the
whole crowd going crazy. It was pure genius. I
recently saw his name as the electronic music guy for
the old "Martian Chronicles" series with Rock Hudson.
