Just bought 'Smile'.  It's astounding.

I just saw Brian Wilson do "Smile" live last night.  It was one of the best things I've ever seen / heard.  I was on the 2nd row, and it was like they were all in my living room.  The harmonies were amazing, and I was close enough to pick out some of the  vocal parts, which was tough because they blended so well.  The guitar player was doing a lot of the falsetto parts.

I'd seen Brian before with the Beach Boys in 1976, and he seems to be at the top of his game today, as far as performing.  The musicians he's touring with are top notch, very professional.   He played a lot of old Beach Boys tunes, but "Smile" was something special.  They played the whole thing right through.  Having just purchased the CD, it was the perfect time for me to see this show.  Now I can't stop playing it.  I did miss Carl's voice on "God Only Knows" (which Brian introduced as Paul McCartney's favorite song), but it was still great.   I highly recommend this show to anyone who can see it.  It was a very positive experience.  Brian even had us singing "Row, row, row your boat"! ;-).  Lots of humorous moments, too.  Yes, there is life beyond 'Trons.
