It would be nice to include some not famous guysif there are any
to be found who played the MKII/M300 as it was meant to be
played ie in a pub/club or at home (ie someone who used the
rhythms and fills). Does anyone know of any pub/club musicians
who specialised in the mellotron? It would be nice to hear of
ordinary punters reactions on hearing a MkII in full flight in the
dance hall. I came across someone once but I'm not sure if I still
have his contact details. Surely there were "test-pilots" and
demonstrators at Mellotronics - but can any still be found?
JohnGreetings JKB and all,
Agreed, but as the years march on, will be more difficult to findthem.
These people would have been among the first "lounge lizards",
with empty drink-glasses atop the Trons for tips.I've heard of an old MK-II demo filmed on British ABC notework,
with Tron bits and pieces animated to 100% orig. R-F-L as the Tron
was being assembled ....very cute........The entire production ended
appropriately with Bill Fransen's "Yeah!" as the top cover wasclosed.I also heard about a demo using M300 with full LH section in use aswell.
These items are crying to be duplicated and be seen/heard .Finally, I have a cassette copy given me by Pierre Veilleux of an older
radio program(me) recorded for Montreal public radio . But notreleased.
Was nicely done in a studio in collaboration with Pierre's buddy Guy.
Pierre's own collection of musical instruments are heard, from his M1
up to and incl the MK-V . Full-demos....All in French, but easy tofollow
and great to listen-to. Pierre and I often discussedcreating an English
version of that program(me), but only talk to this point....I leave you all to ponder the following....What we play/record &
document about our Trons today will become the "Mellotron Archives"
of tomorrow. Cheers, -- JK --
