Hi all,..........
.....So here's the low-down, pads and rollers all there and in verygood
shape considering. CMC-10 though .... Argh! NO sticky keys, thank
god. Here's the interesting part, the entire tron is covered in a
white textured vinyl (not paint) and all edges are covered in an
aluminum trim. I kinda like the look. I posted some photos in the
photos section on the yahoo-Groups website for this list. But alas,
the neighbor was right, the thing has a blown power transformer. Now
the hunt begins!

Ok ... who's got one?     John LeVasseur

Hello John and Everyone,

Amazing Story !   Proves that "a diamond in the rough" canstill
be found these days.  Thanks for sharing that account with us.

I used products called  "Kilz" and similar to cover musty odors
or similar in aged woodwork. A neighbor had some remodelling
to his kitchen in 2001,when the walls/studwork opened, had been
infested with mouse droppings, etc.  Kilz took care of that immed.

Anyway, to your  Tron. Sounds like it's covered in Tolex .
What's the S/N  ??  Replacement M400 transformer and SMS2
are immed. available from Streetly Electronics in the UK.
Give Martin Smith an email at :  (TRONBROS@...) .

Because the M400 has been sitting for ages, I strongly recommend
that the motor be removed and thoroughly cleaned/lubed.
Especially the end bushings and the motor brushes/armature.
Get some 91% IPA (not 70% or denatured), some fine Scotchbrite,
and proceed to gently clean innards. Cotton Q-tip swabs also req'd.

Email me privately for additional tips.  Good Luck on your
acqusition,John !    -- Jerry Korb
