conny plank was responsible for the recording of more
important works than any other engineer i can think of.
[just IMHO of course]
when he passed away a few years ago, we lost a groundbreaking
engineer/producer. he was singlehandedly responsible for the
concept of "snapshot console automation", at least as far as
i know he was. [he used a polaroid camera suspended over the
console in order to 'capture' the console's settings - MUCH
cheaper than an SSL!]
i have seen many pictures of his studio on record sleeves,
and he owned an m400 [along with many other instruments
that appeared on some truly classic recordings...]
does anybody know what became of it?
of all the mellotron with "pedigree" and "history" this
must surely be one of the most important ever - top-ten
for sure...
just curious...
