could lay me hands on the pin-out, I'd recommend a drop-in replacement.
whatever, there are many superior op-amps that would give better audioperformance
than a 741; the tl071c & the ne5534 have turned up in many high-endaudio
devices including studers & neves.....duncan/1098 (no hiss, no hum)
p.s. ta, ken, for the write-up. some nice pics on y'r site too.
Greetings Duncan and group,
Yes , the PML 1/2 in later M400's, EMI-400's and MK-V Trons
used the ua741 op-amp chip. BUT.....only in the line-amp.
Meaning that the preamp circuit was unchanged.
Any pin-for-pin repl. IC prob. wouldn't yield a better sound,
because the IC wasn't part of the signal ampl. process .
I can check pinouts for you. Pls. email me privately......Jimmy Pishock's M400 in Philly-2001 had ua741 , and Ken L. / I
saw one inside EMI-400 #3 last week in New England.Too bad I couldn't see you and RMI in Philly recently.
Sounds like you guys had fun !Cheers, Jerry Korb ( a slight whistle in the ears...."Tronnitus"perhaps ?)
