Chris

By the way - since we're on the topic of certain sounds in music, does anyone know which keyboard is used for the high pitched synth in the intro line of "In the Mood" by Robert Plant? (Is it an ARP?) I never cared much for his caterwalling in Led Zeppelin, ( I thought it spoiled some of the moods set by the music) but I have to say
that those high (strings?) are another unique sound that kind of catches the listeners ear (albeit briefly).

Well, I remember seeing a live pic of Plant's band at the time, and Jezz Woodroffe was playing a Jupiter 8 and a couple of other things. The JP-8's extremely versatile, so maybe? Then again, I s'pose it could've been anything... The pic on the back of Woodroffe's hard-to-find (and not v.good, if truth be told) solo album from '80, 'Opposite Directions', lists (on the synth front):

several Yamaha CS-series
Polymoog
MiniMoog
Roland SH-1/JP-4
Oberheim 2-voice

and a Mellotron, which barely gets used.

The Plant album was three years later, wwhich was a world away back then, so who knows?
