My first M400 was an EMI and it needed serious attention to get it going properly. Main problems were...
Out of square - it was stripped and re-assembled. This stopped the squeaking that came from some notes. The main clue was the fit of the keyboard on to the main frame, it was a struggle to remove and refit the keyboard unit. My current Streetly M400 just glides onto the locating dowels under it's own weight. The notes are also square to the frame, unlike the EMI...
CMC10 - replaced with a decent SMS system. Note the power pack on some EMI's is not as good as the standard ones so mine was replaced as well.
Pads and Rollers - the old favourite, incorrect setup can cause all sorts of wobblies -usually when both pad and roller have been screwed in too far attempting to correct the faults caused by each other being already screwed in too far!
