The weirdest thing was that I haven´t been there for a couple of years and just stopped by ( wink wink nudge nudge, Gordon ) on a different subject and was surprised the Tron wasn´t in the main room but found it upstairs....Came home and saw the mellotron-list posting....
The Polar tron used to be in terrible shape but I think Markus has fixed it up really good with new tapes and all....I asked one of the engineers who or which bands had been using it lately and she had no idea...I am not sure if she knew what instrument I was talking about.
The engineers at Polar seems to have a certain disrespect for the old gear..." it buzzes and hums a lot......" I guess my Polar days are over since I have put together my own studio but it would´ve been so great to plug in the Optigan into SSL desk just to see the looks on their faces....." It sounds like crap....and there is nothing we can do about it... "
Polar studios used to house Johan Ekelunds ( swedish producer ) Mark V as well but it was never used on any recordings...On one occasion I opened the case and it was in immaculate condition....Now it is ( as far as I know ) in Storage in a basement two blocks from my house ( crowbar anyone ? )....annoying isn´t it ?
and Frank....The Chamberlin is doing great....Some of the Rhythms sound duller than others but that must be just the recordings. I have already used it on two recordings and it has become very popular with the bands....
BTW does anyone know what the listing of rhythms are...as in what are they called et.c ?
