Evening all,
Interesting to read the Hammond mails - off topic but still very definitely related....
AFAIK Tony Banks used a (valve) Hammond L122 from 'Trespass' to 'Foxtrot', then switched to a (transistor) T102 which remained until 'Duke' (1980). He was still using it on the 'Duke' tour. After that it (Genesis) all went so horribly pearshaped didn't it?
Don't know what Leslies he had, have seen 122-type and 760 cabinets on various photos and concert footage. From 'Wind and Wuthering' onwards the T102 went through MXR Phase 100 and Boss Chorus Ensemble for a ∗niiiice∗ swirling sound (I do the same with my M102). His T102 was actually painted black (as, it appears, was his M400 and Pro-Soloist by 1977).
The T102 is a really nice organ. I had one from 1997 to 1999, let it go p/x against a Hammond C3 which I never got on with and ultimately sold. Wish I'd kept it :o(
Still have the old M102 however, which lives at (almost) right-angles to the M400. Usually.
BTW - Gene? Treble rotor and amp in a Leslie 120 works well - have tried it myself, you'll end up with a small and cheap Leslie! Go for it.
Best,
Paul
