    I did own a mellotron at one time and am very familiar with its' sounds and nuances. I have tried several sample CD's that were uterly horrible simply beacuse only a handful of keys were sampled. The mellotron sound depends on each key and its' individuality of charactor. The very best mellotron sampled CD out still to date is the "Mike Pinder presents Mellotron". It is available at mellotron.com. Each and every note is sampled from the M400, MKII and the M300. You have to be able to load at least 16 meg. into a sampler he states on his web-site.

Hey all,

I'm sure this is going to cause the die-hards to cringe, but I'm
looking to get the most authentic mellotron tone I can get out of a
sound module. I figured I'd ask people who actually own a real
mellotron to find out what is close. Are there any software emulators
out there for the tron?

I've been looking at the Roland SRX expansion board (Ultimate Keys, a
combination of two JV boards called Keys of the 60s and 70s and
Vintage Synthesizers). It's the only one I've seen to advertise their
mellotron tones, so I'm hoping its good. Anyone heard it? I haven't
looked into any competitors, only Roland. Anyone else heard any good
mellotron patches in a sound module?
