Subject: .....30th Anniversary of An important Mellotronic Year....

From: jkorb@...
Date: 2002-02-07

Greetings All,

The year 1972 is yet another milepost in the history of Mellotrons, their music
and people. This is special to me and I'm sure MANY others for thesome/all of
the following:

1) The releases of "Fragile" and "Close To The Edge" by YES.
2) The debut of Genesis on American FM-radio ,and release of "Foxtrot".
3) The Moody Blues' "Seventh Sojourn" (OK,it's Chamberlin) and USA-NYC tour.
4) My first-contact with a REAL Mellotron, and visit to Dallas Arbiter,NJ (Yahoo!).

1972 was an important "mark" for me,and what I saw/heard then carved the path
for my destiny later in life (Lord help us!). Many other bands "Sprang" onto the US
music scene, and further entrenched me unwavering to this day. The Strawbs for one.

Those on this List who are as "seasoned" as I, I'd love to hear you share your
recollections of "all those many years, long ago." A lively discussion is welcomed.

Hey Chris Dale, I think we should find-out just HOW Wakeman was able to play that
singular note throughout "I Get Up,I Get Down". Isn't 30-yrs. good enough for YES's
statute of limitations?....Just kidding.... All the best from the Mellotronic North Woods.
Cheers, Jerry Korb
