Hi Stephen
Hello John
No it wasn,t Limelight - but what a brill band they are/were.
I remember watching them as a mere slip of a lad and just watching in
amazement - far too good for a club band dont you think?
what happened to the brothers Scrimshaw?
Well, oddly enough, I spoke to Glenn Scrimshaw a few weeks ago, after being
put onto him by the guy who bought his Mellotron, only three years ago. We
talked about Limelight for a while, then he said I should come to see him
play in his Queen tribute band, Mercury, when they played London. I duly
did, and had another chat, and I'm supposed to be calling him back soon, but
as a working musician he's out most nights.
Pat, Limelight's drummer is also in the band, and his brother only left them
a couple of years ago, and Glenn was talking vaguely about the three of them
doing some Limelight-type stuff sometime, but I suspect it's a case of
'don't hold your breath'.
Oh, and when he asked me 'What got you into the Mellotron', I answered,
'You!'. They were the first band I saw close up with one, and I was always
fascinated by the thing. And the rest is history...
