I still swear there is Mellotron flute in "Mr. Kite." The opening and turnaround melody in the verse (right channel). You can hear the pop and keyclick. That is the only appearance, the rest of the song is all harmonium (real) and I believe accordian (real) holds down the bottom (and was the calliope an electric version)? Also, I remember Dave Kean saying that there is tron mixed with real strings in "I Am the Walrus." The jet on "Back in the USSR" is tron.

>Okay ,
>the cool stringy reverb on the Lovley rita Piano break, as described by Geoff Emerick the first Engineer on the sessions, was a piece of sticky tape on the capstan of a tape machine to wobble the echo return. Thats what he says. having said that hearing your view on the 3 violins theory makes it click a bit more.. that is to me what that sounds like.. now i believe that according to the new Beatle gear book, or whatever its called, john did purchase his MK II in 1965.. If ANY tron appears on Tomorow Never Knows it is simply because all the loops that were used were made at HOME by each of the Beatles themselves... wanting to have something curious to add to the mix i am sure John used his Mellotron for some of it. basically in the studio , all the Beatles brought in were a bunch of 1/4 inch reels of various effects.. From every beatle source I have read, it has been maintained that NO mellotron was used anywhere on SGT. Peppers.. THe Harmonium in Mr. Kite is real Because George Martin Played it and said that after so many takes of pumping the organ he colapsed on the studio floor exhausted... There is a tooty/flute like organ that he also plays on the track which you can hear very clearly in the end of the song during the Psychedelic swirl, on the left channel I believe opposite of the FX(The Anthology version is much clearer.. )The Brass on goodmorning is definitley the real deal because Geoff has gone on record stating that the Beatles wanted a special sound so they put mikes right inside the Bells of the Saxes..As for he Mystery sounds of Strawberry Fields, the clicking on and off sound has stumped me forever.. when i got hold of the anthology version, I thought it was maybe someone flicking a toggle switch on their guitar.. Maybe it is mellotron.. what i wanna know is, what are the Swoops being played with on the Anthology version???????? It sounds like a Elec guitar slide thing.. but After listening more it began to sound like a mellotron bit.. I think that there is some Mellotron on Glass Onion from the anthology.. During those "..place you can go-oo-whoah" sections..that swoopy string bit that was later replaced with a real string section after George Martin returned from holidy and heard "Johns MiX".. I really doubt any tron was used on Sgt peppers though i know folks believe that there is at least tron FX. As for cheap Trick, i know for a fact that they own a Mellotron so i am sure they used one somewhere. A few years back i was talkting with Jack Douglas who produced their frist album and Budokan, as well as Aerosmith, The Who, and of course John Lennon, and he said that they, (cheap Trick) had recently opened up their mellotron case and pulled out the instrument to investigate.. "Then this fell out" he told me as he, from his pocket, produced a pick from their 1978 tour.. Of course Tron on Aerosmith "dream on".. but we all know that.As of last week Jack is still convinced that tron was used on Sgt Peppers.. when he saw my MK VI he asked, "do you have the chickens?"
