. Thinking, "no
problem," I went to Home Depot and bought a new power outlet male end (3
prong, Leviton, yellow, a good one.) From the white power cord from the
tron, I hooked up the brown wire inside to gound, and the blue and
yellow/green wires to hot and neutral (or vice versa, I wouldn't know). With
this connection, I am getting severe AC hum. I always got a little hum from
the previous set-up, but now it is unbearable. Any suggestions for how to
wire (splice?) the British, white power cord to work with American power
supply so that I get no hum? I am afraid to wire it up in a different way
to try before asking the group, cause I don't want to fry my tron.
Again. The wires coming from the tron inside the white casing are brown,
blue, yellow/green. If anyone knows how to put a plug end on to minimise
and/or eliminate the AC hum, it would be greatly appreciated.
EXTREME DANGER...
DO NOT USE THE TRON WIRED AS YOU DESCRIBE.
As wired that sounds lethal probably making some of the innards live!
British wiring code is:
Brown = live (or hot)
Blue = neutral
Green / yellow = earth (or ground)
I seem to remember that US wires are green, black and white for earth, live and neutral so you should be able to make a lead that sorts this out. If in doubt ask a qualified electrician as mistakes can kill...
