The percussive sound is the MKII Electric Guitar. Because the cycling system in this machine is optimised to stop when sufficient notes are ready to "go", there are many that have already started when you hit the keys, hence the clicking.
One Spring falsehood though.........they only had one MKII but three people took their turn to play it on the album.
