I have a friend who was vacationing in London, and an acquaintance told her that he'd come by and "knock her up in the morning", or something to that effect. She said she was a bit disappointed to find that the phrase had a totally different meaning in the UK.Yeah, and giving someone 'a ring' doesn't indicate a marriage proposal, either. :-)Andy T.
