Howdy friends...
It's with great sadness that I've discovered that Mike Dickson has been removed from our group.
Please reinstate him, Don.
I read through the postings that led up to his removal... and I really don't see the reason for this action. Granted, Mike has always had strong opinions... but that's a common thread with most everyone in this group, and frankly, that's what makes every posting so interesting.
In the past, I've "taken the piss" out of Mike (just check out my last two postings)... always with humor and respect... and I've been slammed by Mike in return... with, I believe the same amount of humor and respect. Mike has contributed a lot to this list over the years, and this group will be sadly diminished by his absence.
We've lost a lot of good people over the years due to disagreements that got out of hand, and sometimes, I wonder if we've forgotten the reason why we're here in the first place... our love of orchestral synthesis in general, and the Mellotron in particular.Why don't we just agree to disagree... and move on to more important matters.
I believe that we have a responsibility... not just to maintaining the Mellotron legacy... past, present, and future...but to influence the direction that orchestral synthesis takes in the digital keyboard world in future... especially after the comment that Martin and John made in the Sound on Sound review concerning the availability of raw tape... they figure they have enough tape for about 10 years... then what? It might be that the Mellotron legacy will have to survive as a digital keyboard from that point on... don't you think we should have some influence on what happens then... I do!
... Of course... if the Mayans are right... and the world comes to an end on 12/21/2012... the problem's rendered moot...
