well, as someone that was responsible for compiling this information
for some VERY big selling records from the past 15 years, i have to
defend us: the info provided to the label is almost always incomplete
and frequently inaccurate - sometimes, due to release/delivery dates,
we are forced to use the less-than-perfect information rather than
risk delivery schedules - it costs a TON of $$ to push things back,
as it affects things deemed far more important than the credits.
we frequently have to submit changes that are reflected in subsequent
printings of the artwork [if any subsequent printings are required].

we can only work with what we are given by the artists or management.
it's incumbent on them providing accurate and complete information.
some things are obviously in need of correction; others are less so.

...and in this day of the multi-page "thank you" credits on records,
it gets absurd, and it's guaranteed that someone's name is mis-spelled,
and things like specific instruments ARE often incorrect.
