Subject: Dubious Italian Mellotron on ebay

From: Bruce Daily <pocotron@...>

Hi all-
Perhaps some of you noticed yesterday's ebay listing
of a 'tron in Bergamo, Italy (item #110150780451),
starting at $20, with only a 3 day listing. This was
probably a scam, and was absent in today's listings.
The description was exactly the same as in the
seller's ebay ad for my 'tron (first paragraph, word
for word), which I bought back in March this year.
Further, some of the pictures were the same, and the
background of one shows the same studio in
Bloomington, Indiana, which is a slight distance from
Italy. No "Buy It Now" price was in the header.
However the payment methods said that one could only
contact the seller at an email address for questions,
and to "Buy it Now" for 1000.00GBP (Great Britain is a
slight distance from Italy, too). The "seller" became
even more suspect by saying the item could be shipped
"worldwide".
Rest assured, I had nothing to do with that ad, and
my 'tron is sitting happily in pieces in my workshop
in Loveland, CO. New bearings are in, & no
possiblilty of "screeching cable rot" or fuse-related
electrocution exist now. I will test it again in the
case shortly, then tear it down to refinish the case.

My best to all with 'tronic conditions (hope you're
never cured)
