Though it took longer than expected the work paid off. Feels much
different now that everything is clean and functioning properly and
adjusted. To me hardest part was the key rack. Always had
some "spongy" keys and as you see in photo, tension was uneven all
around. Don't know what the experts do but I worked on one white
and one black key and experimented with tension until after
aluminum stop bar was in place, releasing the key would return
without "bouncing" and then adjusted rest to match. The end result
is now the keys seem to have quicker "action".
Hope someone can explain the rubber stamp markings on wood keys for
#1 and 2. One side has S.C. stamped and opposite side has
manufacturer stamped. The remainder had no markings and were dye
stamped #3 on up.
Other thing I noticed is that motor seems to stabilize a lot quicker
at power up, likely a result of motor mounted properly with new
grommets and running true to capstan. Also runs quieter.
With the exception of common sense modifications, like fusing line
ahead of power switch, it is back in it's original condition
again... Doug
