i worked at a pro audio dealer for a while years ago [MANY years ago.
we sold a neotek console to a semi-local studio [philadelphia suburbs].
neoteks were always custom built to order, and took months to arrive.
they used BEKINS to ship this one from chicago to here in philly.
the truck pulled up, the driver opened the back, climbed in and
started using one of those pallet lifting things.
parts were falling out of a large hole in the crate.
someone had put a fork from a forklift through the crate.
we never even saw the full extent of the damage, as we refused to
accept the delivery.
it also took at least 2 months for neotek to repair the damage, as
i was canned from the place 2 months later and it had still not
been re-delivered.
yes - it was insured for big $$, but it still got trashed and the
customer was without a console for months.
pay someone you know to drive it for you.
i just don't know of any other resaonable method, although i guess
fedex freight might be worth a toll-free phone call, but they are
not real cheap either.
i am in philadelphia [well, suburbs], but i don't think it would
fit in my car - sorry. i do know someone with a van. i could ask
him if he wanted to take a drive to cali. drop me a note off-list
if you want me to look into it.
best of luck,
jeff
