we have underground power lines here.
everything is underground: power, phone, cable
but somewhere along the path between the power station and
my house the lines ARE NOT underground, as a result, we
frequently have power outages [in suburban philadelphia],
sometimes lasting many hours, sometimes a couple days.
the weather has been getting more intense every year also,
leading to stronger storms, and more trees taking out the
power lines.
so it's nice not having utility poles up and down the street,
but they only partially solved the problem here. it has gotten
so bad in the past couple years that my next door neighbour
broke down and bought a generator to keep his refridgeration
running - he got tired of throwing away food.
our street was developed in 1987.
not sure of the surrounding neighbourhoods.
