Howdy Gang... long time...
Here's hoping that all of you had a splendid holiday season... and may 007 be the best year for us all!
Clay... Ryan Guidry has only one song on the Higher and Higher tribute album: "London Is Behind Me". Gotta hand it to Ryan... his Justin Hayward imitation is amazing... and his Mellotron samples are recorded with care... very well done! The rest of the CD's are IMHO... uneven. If you're expecting faithful renderings of Moodies songs... with tons of 'Trons, you will be disappointed. If you want to hear interesting versions of Moodies songs... you may like it. Unfortunately... the recording quality is uneven at best... some are very good... others are fair to bad. The best 'Tron on the CD set is "Out And In"... it sounds exactly like the Pinder original... however the mellotronist has a couple of off notes in the song. Other good songs include the ones mentioned by Clay, along with "The Sunset"... and "Twilight Time". I picked up my copy through Syn-Phonic... Greg Walker's a great guy, and his price was lower than anywhere else. If you like this... you might try to find a copy of "Schizoid Dimensions" the King Crimson Tribute CD on Cleopatra Records... I don't know if it's still in print, so good luck.
