(1) You should really talk about 3.5mm not 1/8".
(2) The CL13841 has a solder lug version CL13821, but there's really no
need to keep both - you can easily solder wires direct to the PCB mount
version - just tin the wire and the socket pin, the melt together.
(3) The sloppy connection issues are for the CL1384/CL1382 sockets only.
(4) About the US source - sorry I can't help you here, but surely
someone must know ??? Must also be plenty of alternatives to the Cliff
sockets.
