A few days ago I took a look at some old Fender amps (Twin Reverb, etc) 
and they used a 12AT7 + transformer.

I'm too magnetically challenged (it's been since the 1980's since I had 
a course that discussed magnetics and haven't used it since then) to 
convert the given 2.5 A-T into something meaningful.  I'd love to be 
educated though...
