[sdiy] elektor phaser? which edition is it in ? and other scf phasers

Yeah I think the one you're referring to was in EFI or something. Maybe
Elektor did one too. The Bad Stone used a 4009UB (a 4049UB would work but
with slightly lower quality phasing) as voltage dependent resistors.

I've noticed from a lot of the sound examples on modezero.com that not all
phasers are created equal. Of course you have to keep in mind the limited
scope (and more likely bandwidth) they have. I got my DOD R-870 largely due
to the sound examples and photos on modezero.com, but when I got the unit I
found that it was capable of much much much more - would've required a LOT
of li'l mp3's to give you the full range of possibilities.

What I'm getting at is is I find that the best sounding phasers are almost
always FET-based. The Vactrol-based ones are about the same, but the ones
that use OTA's just don't sound all that great to me.

And the Boss PH3 (I think that's the number), which I think is digital,
sounds really awesome to me, although I'd imagine an analog phaser with the
Stepped mode (which is the main reason I like the PH3) would be awesome too.
