Finally!

For a number of years I have been collecting information on videosynthesis,
some of it is available at:
http://mkv.itm.miun.se/personal/per/videosynth/
There even a old version of the page in english.

I agree with most others: kits with pcb:s + odd parts. RGB to PAL and RGB to
NTSC kits are quite cheap as Grant R has said.
Colours are quite ”easy”. What is more difficult to do are shapes and
videosignal mixing with out messing up the sync.

I would be v-e-r-y interested in:
- a XY to video interlaced scanline rasterizer. There are a few out there but
they are often µP/FPGA controlled and in the USD2000 range.
These units could be viewed as the VCOs of a videosynthesizer. PAL/NTSC
versions needed. This unit could e developed with add-ons for size of point,
edge blurriness, colours etc etc .
- a RGB>HSV>RGB converter. Modifying colors when they are in HSV colours are
alot easier to understand than RGB.
- a coordinate converter between planar coordinates to circular/cartesian and
back.
- phase locked sine VCO/LFOs with CV phase, this is not to difficult but I
use this so often on the Nordmodular that a ready made analouge board would
be nice.

With the CV levels at 10V it would be easy for us integrate these with
audiomodules.

I have done some experiments in videosynthesizing using the Nordmodular and a
scope.
3D cube with spheres:

The game Pong:

I have a two player patch somewhere.

The Nord is fun but in no way ideal since it has caps in the signal path = no
DC out. If you watch closely on the videos you see the shapes are folding
inwards to the center. Also the bits of the LFOs are clearly visible which is
odd since the Nordmodular G1 should have 24bit resolution.
Since I still have no XY>video conversion I usually put a camera in front of
a scope then run the camera thru my Fairlight CVI for tacky colors and 80´s
effects, fun!! :)
