Hi-end retailers (Beverly Hills sorts of places) know a simple trick:
Put something on sale for a reasonable price and it sits on the shelf.
Put the same thing on the shelf with the price marked up 4 or 5 or
even 10X, and suddenly the item has a mystique and a (perceived)
higher value. Perhaps this explains how someone can sell a $90,000
turntable...
