[sdiy] transistor selection question

Hi,
  I built Ray Wilsons sample hold circuit today, and have a question about the mpf102.

  He says a 2n5457 should work.  At my local electronics store I  asked for a mpf102, and when I got home I noticed they were 2n5485's.
  My circuit is not working.  I etched the PCB and it was my first  time etching... so that may be the problem.  (although I did  inspect it very closely, and it looked fine)
  
  I did make the modification to the circuit that he suggested for the 2n5457.  (removed diode, replaced w/ resistor)
