Howdy,

In my experience you have to be VERY careful with
Prophets. They are extremely sensitive to static
electricity when connecting EVERY cable. Make sure you
discharge ALL cables before plugging in. I have 3,
P-600, T-8, and Multi-trac. While setup at a friends
house and turned off, a power surge or something hit
and they ALL had to go to Wine Country. So, unplug
when not in use. One day, while walking around on the
carpet, I plugged the midi or power cable into my
Multi-trac and ZIP, no go. It wouldn't make a peep.
After 3 years in a storage unit that went from -10 to
125 degrees, I plugged it in one last time before
sending it to Wine Country. Oddly, it gradually
started to wake up. after about 10 minutes of futzing
around with it, the 6 voices gradually started
working, the tuning got closer and closer, and
finally, it was functioning again. Go figure. But I
wouldn't trade them for anything, unless of course, it
was a MIGHTY nice synth i.e. an Andromeda or such for
the T-8. Meybe an Ion for the 600, or a Roland
sh-200(?) for the Multi trac. Still, it would take
some pondering.
