 Thanks, Roman - and everybody else who replied.

 I have come to the conclusion - so far - that since a MIDI sequencer will
be useful to me anyway, it makes more sense to have all the clock stuff
taken care of on the MIDI side of things. I found a reasonably priced tap
tempo injector pedal for MIDI which looks interesting:

 I figure that with a MIDI to CV + trig/gate device I should be able to
sync MIDI synths etc. with non-MIDI synth gear (like an analog
sequencer) via the same MIDI sequencer or PC software.

 Any potential problems with such a setup?
