One thing I've thought of (though I may not be the first) is
if you're generating a CV anyway, it may be possible to speed
up a PLL's response by adding your external CV to the error
CV provided by the PLL. That way, the PLL needs only make
rather minor corrections. I think this will work for a PLL
tracking a VCO, but maybe not useful for a CV generated from
a guitar string since there will be delay introduced by the
pitch to CV converter anyway.
